I am an associate professor of English at Texas Christian University (TCU). I am the author of Evangelism and Resistance in the Black Atlantic, 1760-1835 (University of Georgia Press, 2008). I am currently at work on a monograph and edited collection of the works of Jupiter Hammon, an eighteenth-century American poet, essayist and slave.
